Dear Physicians,

Diet, lack of exercise and stress account for more than 400,000 deaths annually. Recent studies have shown that only 30 percent of the population exercises regularly; however, another 30 percent state they would like to exercise. Exercise has been shown to improve medical outcomes in chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. Yet, few individuals know how to begin a safe, effective exercise program. Etowah Valley Yoga can help.

My name is Sue Hopkins and I am a Registered Yoga Teacher and a Professional Yoga Therapist. All the instructors at Etowah Valley are Registered with the Yoga Alliance, and members of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. As certified professionals our staff can design and supervise a program for individuals referred to us by their physician. The evaluation process includes:

– health and exercise history
– postural and balance evaluation
– range of motion evaluation
– current exercise program
– muscle strength and endurance
– flexibility

Once our staff has evaluated the client, taking careful note of any specific guidelines that you share with us, we will tailor and implement a program and monitor the progress with follow up reports to you. Our programs include yoga adapted to the individual, Qi Gong, breathing to reduce stress, and exercises for balance, strength and flexibility.

We would like to offer our services to you and your patients and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss referrals at your convenience.

The phone number is 770 383-3022 or 770 861-9811.

We look forward to working with you to improve your patients’ health.

Movement is Medicine™!

We also offer programs for people with disabilities. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Thank you,

Sue Hopkins
